Imagine a Life Free From Knee Pain
At Klinik Tuah, we are committed to helping you regain a pain-free life.
What Most Treatments Don’t Tell You
Why Do Some Knee Pain Treatments Fail?
Treating knee pain is not as simple as prescribing painkillers or injecting gel. Every knee condition is different in type, severity, and level of damage.
Treatments that only aim to reduce pain without actually repairing or restoring the joint often provide only temporary relief. Worse, they may allow the condition to silently deteriorate over time.
Unfortunately, many treatments today do not truly focus on healing and recovery.
That is why Klinik Tuah exists. Built on one bold vision:
“A World Without Pain.”
Our treatments are built on proven medical evidence, powered by advanced technology, and designed to remain affordable for all Malaysians.

Knee Pain Is Not Just Discomfort
It is a long-term suffering that slowly takes away your quality of life:
- Performing prayers comfortably, especially sitting between two sujud
- Climbing up and down stairs
- Walking long distances
- Enjoying travel and holidays
In short, it changes your entire lifestyle.
The longer you ignore it, the more damage it causes, driven by continuous joint friction and untreated inflammation.
Why Do You Have Knee Pain?
Knee pain can happen for many reasons. In general, it can caused by aging, infection, inflammation, autoimmune conditions, injury or trauma
Here are the 6 most common causes of knee pain:
- Osteoarthritis
- Ligament & Meniscus Injuries
- Tendonitis
- Bursitis / Pes Anserine Bursitis
- Rheumatoid Arthritis / Gouty Arthritis
- Knee Effusion (Fluid in the Knee)
Myths & Facts About Knee Pain
“If you have knee pain, you must go for surgery”
Not true. A 2022 meta-analysis shows that advanced treatments such as regenerative therapies can significantly improve joint function and reduce knee pain over the long term without the need for surgery ( Issa MR et al., 2022 study on regenerative therapy for knee pain )
“Knee pain only happens to older people”
This is a common misconception. Research published in the The New England Journal of Medicine shows that osteoarthritis can start at a younger age due to sports injuries, ligament tears, genetic factors, and obesity, not just aging (Katz JN et al., 2021, NEJM osteoarthritis study)
“Once you start knee gel injections, you need them every year forever”
Not true. Hyaluronic acid (HA) injections do not necessarily need to be repeated annually. Studies show the effects can last between 8 months to 2 years, and some patients may not require repeat injections if symptoms are well controlled. That is why combining gel injections with proper knee restoration treatments is important to address underlying damage, while the gel acts as protection for the joint (chondroprotective effect) . (Glinkowski et al., 2025 hyaluronic acid knee study)
Your Journey to a Pain-Free Life Starts Here
Treating knee pain should always focus on restoring function and addressing the true root cause, not merely masking the pain with temporary painkillers or injections.
That is why at Klinik Tuah, restoring knee health is guided through 3 essential phases.
01
Protection Phase
Before rebuilding, the existing joint structure must be preserved and protected from further damage.
02
Optimization Phase
To ensure proper healing and recovery, the internal condition of the knee must be optimized. Essential nutrients and the joint’s requirements must be adequately supported to create the best environment for repair.
03
Regeneration Phase
Damaged or depleted healing cells within the knee are replaced with new regenerative cells. These cells undergo replication and multiplication within the joint, helping to rebuild and restore the damaged structures.
Each patient is unique. Our treatment approach is individualized, tailored to each patient based on their specific condition and the extent of damage identified through ultrasound or X-ray findings.
The available treatment options or models include:
-
Detailed Ultrasound Examination
Inspect the thickness of cushion structure -cartilage of knee, knee effusion, inflammation of surrounding tissue and other damage

Other supportive treatment
This recovery treatment represents one of the most advanced medical technologies available today. It is used in thousands of knee centers and hospitals worldwide, and has been supported by numerous studies both locally and internationally demonstrating its effectiveness.
At Klinik Tuah, we place strong emphasis on treating and restoring function, not merely providing temporary solutions such as gel injections or painkillers like many other places.

You may choose to undergo a knee assessment first to determine your condition and its severity without committing to any treatment.
Our doctors will provide suitable treatment options for you to consider carefully, allowing you to fully understand your condition before making any decision.
Why Does Knee Gel (Hyaluronic Acid) Cost Thousands, While Some Places Offer It for RM200–300?
At Klinik Tuah, we do not use generic or low molecular weight (LMW) hyaluronic acid (HA) knee gels. While they are significantly cheaper, their effectiveness is often limited and short-lived.
We have used such formulations in the past. However, the results were temporary, and patient feedback was generally disappointing. This led us to upgrade to one of the most advanced, high-end HA knee gels available on the market today.
With this improvement, we have observed that over 90% of our patients experience significant and positive results, with much longer-lasting relief.
Quality Over Quantity
At Klinik Tuah, we prioritize quality over quantity.
That is why we only use high molecular weight (HMW), cross-linked hyaluronic acid formulations, which have been shown to provide far superior effectiveness and durability in relieving knee pain.
Clinical studies have demonstrated that HMW and cross-linked HA offer more sustained symptom improvement, with effects that can last for extended periods, compared to low molecular weight or non-cross-linked formulations (J Clin Med. 2025 )
International Standard of Care
Double cross-linked / HMW hyaluronic acid represents the international standard for knee gel therapy and is widely used in leading orthopedic hospitals and knee treatment centers worldwide.
If you’re considering knee gel treatment, the key difference is not just the price, but the quality, durability, and long-term results.
So, Are Cheaper Knee Gels Really “ineffective”?
Lower-cost, low molecular weight (LMW) hyaluronic acid (HA) knee gels are not completely ineffective. However, their limited effect and shorter duration make them less suitable for providing meaningful and long-term knee treatment.
Based on meta-analyses and systematic reviews, the overall effectiveness of HA (including lower-cost formulations) is generally modest, and in some cases may not differ significantly from placebo or may offer limited clinical benefit (Pereira TV et al., 2022).
Why Do Some Clinics Use Cheaper Gels?
In many cases, it comes down to lower cost, easier accessibility, and the ability to attract more patients.
However, in terms of long-term treatment quality, lower-cost formulations often provide only temporary relief and may require more frequent injections. This can lead to higher overall costs over time, with less consistent and less durable results.
In summary, the key difference is not just price, but the quality, durability, and long-term effectiveness of the treatment.
Will It Be Painful? I’m Afraid of Injections
Many people worry that knee injections might be painful, but there’s no need to be concerned.
At Klinik Tuah, our procedures are designed to be as comfortable as possible. Before we begin, we administer local anesthesia to numb the area, so you should not feel pain during the injection.
In the past, knee injections were often performed without anesthesia and without proper guidance, which is why many patients experienced discomfort.
However, at Klinik Tuah, we use ultrasound guidance to ensure precise needle placement. The result is a procedure that is more comfortable, quicker, and virtually painless.
Many patients are pleasantly surprised after the procedure, often saying:
“That’s it? I didn’t feel anything!”
My Doctor Told Me I Need Knee Replacement Surgery. Is There Still Hope?
We frequently see patients in this situation. Thankfully, many have responded well to treatment and were able to avoid surgery.
If you would like to explore your options, we recommend scheduling an appointment with our doctors for a proper assessment.
However, it is important to understand that in certain cases, especially when the knee is severely damaged due to advanced degeneration (such as Stage 4 osteoarthritis) or significant structural tears, non-surgical treatments may no longer be effective. In such situations, surgery may still be the most appropriate option.
The key is proper evaluation to determine the best treatment path for your specific condition.
I’m Planning to Travel Abroad / Perform Umrah or Hajj. When Is the Best Time for a Knee Injection?
It is recommended to have the injection at least 2 weeks before your travel date. This allows your knee enough time to adjust and respond to the treatment.
It also provides a buffer period in case of mild localized inflammation, which may occur after the procedure and typically resolves within about one week.
How Long Does Knee Pain Treatment Take to Show Results?
This depends on the type of treatment.
Hyaluronic Acid (HA) Knee Injection
In general, patients may feel an immediate “cushioning” effect and a lighter sensation in the knee right after the injection.
- Pain relief is typically noticeable within 1–3 days after treatment
- By one week, knee function usually improves further, with pain gradually reducing and, in many cases, resolving completely
In about 30% of cases, mild localized inflammation may occur shortly after the injection. This is normal and reflects the body’s natural response as it adapts to the new knee gel.
During this period, you may experience some soreness or mild discomfort in the knee. However, this usually resolves within 3 days to 1 week.
Knee Cell-Based Therapy
The timeline is generally similar in the early phase, but the more significant improvements are typically experienced after 1–2 months, as the healing and rebuilding processes reach their peak.
Overall, most patients begin to notice improvement within days, with continued progress over the following weeks.
Can I Walk and Work Immediately After the Treatment?
Yes, you can walk immediately after the procedure. Most patients are able to resume normal walking right away.
However, it is advisable to avoid excessive strain or high-impact activities for about one week. This allows the knee to heal properly and ensures optimal recovery.
Taking it easy during this period helps maximize the effectiveness of the treatment.
I’ve Had a Knee Gel Injection Elsewhere but Still Have Pain. Why?
There can be several reasons for this:
- The injection may not have been accurately delivered into the knee joint
- Low-quality or generic gel was used
- The knee damage may be too advanced
We often see patients who have received knee gel injections elsewhere but continue to experience pain.
Upon examination, in some cases, we find a soft lump beneath the skin in front of the knee, indicating that the gel was not injected into the joint space, but instead misplaced into the surrounding soft tissue.
From our perspective, this is both wasteful and concerning, as knee gel injections are not inexpensive. That is why all our injections are performed using ultrasound guidance, ensuring a high level of accuracy in delivering the gel precisely into the joint.
In addition to injection technique, factors such as the quality of the gel used and the severity of the knee condition also play an important role.
For such cases, we offer effective solutions tailored to your condition. We recommend a proper assessment with ultrasound imaging, after which our doctors will explain the most suitable treatment options for you
